The Junior Auxiliary Scholarship project, initiated in 1963, strives to award a minimum of $30,000 in scholarship funds each year to deserving Lowndes County high school seniors. Actual awards are based on contributions to Junior Auxiliary and community participation in Junior Auxiliary's Report to the Community.

Junior Auxiliary of Columbus's Scholarship Committee solicits applications from high school students through direct communications with area school counselors, social media marketing, and print advertisement. Applicants are required to submit a detailed resume and application for consideration by the Committee. Recipients are selected based on merit and financial need, with an emphasis placed on those volunteering in the community.

Awards include both one-time scholarships, which are issued for the recipient's first semester in college, and multi-semester awards, which provide assistance for up to eight semesters of college or graduate school. In 2014, two new scholarships were created in memory of former members Eleanor Slaughter and Terry Brewer. These two women demonstrated exceptional devotion to their communities and developed a sincere passion in servicing the children of Lowndes County.

As a chapter devoted to helping children of all ages, this project allows us to support high school seniors in a way that produces lifetime benefits. Investing in a student's higher education helps prepare the student for success in life and fosters a desire to serve others. Junior Auxiliary of Columbus is honored to play a small part in each recipient’s future through this influential project.
